More Links

I added two new links. The first is to the writings of the Early Church Fathers. These are by no means limited to monasticism but they are a good reference for the source of our beliefs.

The second link is a page that links to some sayings of the Desert Fathers for those who have not yet bought the book Xofezura has recommended. It also has an overview of what we are talking about.

However, it is all from the Orthodox view point. Perhaps Xofezura can add some links from the Western viewpoint?

Also, do you want to add a link to New Advent? It has a very Western bias but it has a lot of details that can be used to further research.

I prefer to think of that "Western bias" as being an "objective bias". :)

I believe Benedicta Ward (editor of "Sayings of the Desert Fathers") is Order of Saint Benedict, i.e., Roman Catholic, for what it's worth.

The link to online Monastic self-study is also O.S.B, as you noted elsewhere.

I'm going to move the "Writings of the Church Fathers" down to the Reference area, along with the Catholic Encyclopedia.

The Writings of the Church Fathers link contains thousands of pages of documents which often get into the nitty-gritty of various early Church heresies.

I am reminded of more than a few of the Sayings of the Desert Fathers, saying essentially: "ignore idle theological dabbling."

A valuable resource, but professional students beware ...
